My grades for participation

 In the course of this module, i believe that i demonstrated my 100% effort whenever i am in class. Although i have to be honest with myself that my attendance is not acceptable, i have to admit that i let factors outside of school to hinder me from allowing me to attend every class. However, i strongly feel that whenever i am in class, i am completely focused on the learning objectives, be it the blog posts or even the majority of the course where i had to sit down and discuss with my projectmates on our solution. 

To be fair to myself and fellow classmates, i believe a grade of between Good/Acceptable is reasonable. Although i am an introvert, this module did push me to come out of my comfort zone and to interact with my classmates, through the summary reader response task and the project innovation. Furthermore, the task of giving constructive feedback to our peers also helped me to see where i can improve as others can provide insightful information based on their point of view. Such feedback can boost my technical writing skills as well as my speaking ability. 

In conclusion, whilst admitting that my attendance in class has indeed affected my learning curve, i feel that my determination to learn whenever i am present was pivotal to ensuring i gained value ed from this module. Thus, I am a firm believer that this validates a grade between Good/Acceptable.

Intepretation of Quote

  “I contend that we (engineers) are undervalued because of our widespread inability to explain what we do to the general public (and why it is so important). It is one of the hardest goals to accomplish, to be able to boil down difficult concepts into a short and easily understood presentation or elevator pitch.” Marybeth Miceli, President, Miceli Infrastructure Consulting, USA (2011) What i can intepret from this quote is that despite engineers contributing argubaly the most in terms of human innovation, they are unable to condense the information to the general public in a way they can fathom the magnitude of their efforts. To relate this better, i would use an analogy of an adult trying to teach a complex game simple enough so that a child understands it.
